He said that it was “good to get one of the big ones now and then” and gave us a little discount for paying cash while his prices were already lower than the others’. Read why you should drive the Mother Road, Route 66 if you ever get the privilege.
The highlight of day 76 of 90 was Bearizona in Williams, Arizona; an iconic historic Route 66 town. On day 77, we left Williams and drove through iconic Seligman and Kingman, probably two of the best Route 66 towns on all of the mother road! We had lunch at Mr D’z in Kingman (highly recommended), drove past the Hoover Dam overlook and onto Oasis RV Resort in Las Vegas.
Our epic 90-day RV road trip started and ended in San Francisco with our family of five road-tripping literally around the country in a rented 28ft motorhome.

Day 76. Mon, 3 Dec: Williams, Az. Bearizona
Great place! Bearizona was another great recommendation by Bill and Debbie, fellow RV’ers who we met early on in this trip. Thanks guys!
Did the enclosure drive 4 times in one day and saw the animals out and about all the time. For $22 p/p you can drive through all day, see the animal shows, enjoy the wild guided bus ride and walk through small zoo-type enclosures. The interior was changed into a winter wonderland. Matthew got to be part of the bird show again with a great big owl called Luna. The guided bus ride was chilly! Wrap up warm.
Overnight: Railside RV Ranch. $42 p/n Full hookups and Free Waffle Breakfast.
Day 77. Tue, 4 Dec: Drive Williams to Las Vegas.
The free waffles for breakfast at Railside RV Ranch was yummy! Very kind manageress.
Saw a roadrunner between Seligman and Kingman next to the road when Nick and I walked ahead to launch the drone. It got a fright and ran up a dirt path kicking up a huge cloud of dust.
No snow or ice after Williams. Strange.
Our route: Rt66 Seligman, small with great authentic RT 66 era vibe.>> Kingman >>Vegas.
Lunch at Mr D’z in Kingman. Pulled pork sandwich (same as a burger) & rootbeer float, PV Burger, Patty Melt. Milkshakes & 2 x kiddie meals $58 plus tip. Big Rt 66 shield in the parking lot and stunning metallic blue refurbished pick-up in front. Was our last chance to eat at a typical diner on Rt66 before leaving the mother road and heading to Las Vegas. The food was fine, good size servings and the rootbeer float and milkshakes a nice treat. We didn’t have to wait long for our food or service either and we got some great photo’s.
It’s just across from the Visitor centre with parking and it’s close to the museum. Definitely worth the stop. Smaller shops and gas service stations along old Route 66 need your support over the big chain-owned franchised businesses. Take the Mother Road!
The owner of the small gas station close to Mr D’z in Kingman gave us a heartfelt thanks when we turned away from the big station on our side of the road to get to his station and filled up the RV. He said that it was “good to get one of the big ones now and then” and gave us a little discount for paying cash while his prices were already lower than the others’.
We called ahead to check if Oasis Las Vegas RV resort had space for us. Although the sites with fire pits were all taken they had enough spaces open for us to just show up and check-in. Beautiful mountain scenery and a great lookout point over Lake Meade near the Hoover Dam on-route to Vegas.
Couldn’t wait to meet up with friends from South Africa in Las Vegas! We met our friends, Johan and Odette, at their hotel on the Strip, Excalibur. Beautiful hotel. Went to Freemont Street in downtown Vegas for a walk around. Weird people everywhere, some with obscene cardboard posters, but a thrilling place. Most lights we’ve ever seen, even more than Walt Disney World!
Visit Container Park. It had a play area for kids and outside karaoke with a green play mat, big building blocks and Hoola hoops for kids. Food court and soft seating with footstools for us. Odette sneakily signed B up to sing karaoke and he did it. Love his voice and the kids were gobsmacked to see Dad on stage. A great night out!
Got a fine of $20 for parking over 2 spots with the RV and only paying for one parking bay. We paid the fine over the phone.
Overnight: Oasis Las Vegas RV Resort. $55 Full Hookups premium site.
